While taking a morning beach walk the other day, I happened upon this scene: the training of Maui lifeguards. Uh...why is the woman doing the heavy lifting?

To pick up heavy guys? Firemen and Fireladies here all must take the same kind of tests and that involves lifting a man (I forget the weight) and carry him out of the building. So maybe a lifeguard has the same kind of test.
