Wailuku Churches And Free Food
These photogenic old churches are all in an area of Maui called Wailuku. On Sunday many of them offer free food to the hungry and homeless. The homeless don't have it quite as bad as their counterparts in the big cities because there is always some fruit to pull off a tree in a pinch....plus it's warmer. Many of the homeless on Maui have jobs but still can't afford the high housing costs and rentals.

Truly a great photo blog
Lovely photos of church and sky. Too bad, isn't it, that so many people are unable to afford the basics in their own community!!
beautiful sky there.

Down the beach from the condo we always stay at (Kealia) there is a family who lives on the beach. They have two dogs, a truck of some sort for their belongings, and a tent and a couch on the beach. The woman is always gone during the day so I think she has a job. The man often is reading on his couch with the dogs. We wave hello as we walk past on our morning walk and they say hello back. I wonder if they go to the churches for some of their food...
Love your top photo in particular! That church somewhat resembles something you would expect to see in Sweden or Norway!
Great sky background too!
Nice pictures. Like Kate says it's to bad working people can't afford a place to live in their own communities. I wonder why they don't go work in a community where they can afford a place to live?
superbes, je trouve les deux premieres photos magnifiques, bravo
