Inside The Maui Mall Theater Complex

The Maui Mall Theater Complex has the most theaters in Maui--twelve of them. This photo shows the lobby, and as you can see, neon lights and bright colors are the design theme.

If You Live In South Maui...

you will know this location because this is where the CLOSEST movie theater complex is located! There are four different theaters inside the complex, and most of the new movies make it here. If you don't go here, you'd have to drive another 20-30 minutes into Kahului to find the next closest movie theaters. And I can remember the days when we had to drive before the theaters were built in South Maui.

Now it's just a hop, skip and a jump to to the movies! Yay!

Indiana Jones Comes To Maui

This past week the new Indiana Jones movie "Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" opened on Maui, and being the movie-aholics that we are, we were there on opening day at the Kaahumanu Theater in Kahului. This is a photo of the concession stand decorated for this film--notice the jungle theme? If you look close enough, you might even see a fake crystal skull.

DJ at the Candle Light Cafe

Every Wednesday night there is a dinner and a no-host bar served between shows in the Maui Arts and Cultural Center Founder's Court--an extension of the Maui Film Festival's Candle Light Cafe and Cinema. There is usually a DJ spinning or sometimes live music.

The DJ last night was superb. We enjoyed the music while dining with friends after seeing the film, "Silk", the story of a young man sent to Japan to revitalize France's silk trade.

Maui's Biggest Cinemaplex

The largest cinemaplex on Maui is located in Maui Mall, and there's probably at least twelve theaters inside...all with very comfortable seating. This is what the front looks like at night...rather Halloweenish, eh? There are never enough employees to staff the place, and after purchasing our tickets the other evening for the new movie about Jesse James, there wasn't anyone even taking ticket stubs at the door. Employees are hard to come by on Maui.
