Last Photo Before Vacation

I'm back from vacation--refreshed and ready to post again! Mahalo Nui Loa for those who emailed me and checked-up on me--I was really touched by these emails!

There were so many fabulous photos from my journey that it's taking me awhile to look them over, sort through them, crop them, and ready them for posting. Eventually I'll be posting them under various themes on my travel blog Vintage-Tees.

The photo above is the newly re-designed airport restaurant in Kahului Airport, the main airport in Maui, called Sammy's Beach Bar & Grill. It is partly owned by Van Halen front man and rock star Sammy Hagar.

One-hundred percent of the profits will go to local Hawaii charities via Hagar's Red Rocker Foundation, which supports children's organizations.

The menu is better than the old restaurant, the food is better, and the prices are higher. Maui still rocks with some of the highest dining prices in the States. :-)

Indiana Jones Comes To Maui

This past week the new Indiana Jones movie "Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" opened on Maui, and being the movie-aholics that we are, we were there on opening day at the Kaahumanu Theater in Kahului. This is a photo of the concession stand decorated for this film--notice the jungle theme? If you look close enough, you might even see a fake crystal skull.

By The Sea, By The Sea, By The Beautiful Sea

The Maui Seaside Hotel is one of the oldest hotels on the island and is priced for the budget traveler. You'll really get the aloha local vibe if you stay here. The hotel is located in Kahului and not too far from the main airport, but vibe-wise far from the glamorous resorts of Wailea and Kaanapali. If you don't have lots of moolah, this hotel is an option.

A Beloved Friend Returns To Maui

I believe the smile on our friend's face speaks volumes. Every year he returns to Maui, just as many other snowbirds, and we pick him up at the Kahului Airport, the main airport servicing Maui. He always has so much warmth, joy, and appreciation for his return to our Maui Paradise, and we always feel delighted to see him-- as we do our other returning snowbird friends. I won't say too very much about this man because he's extremely humble, but he is revered by many as a "holy man". His birth country is India, and he is a profound, kind, aware, loving spiritual teacher whom we are honored to know as a beloved friend for many years.
