Flowering trees are abundant on Maui, and they bloom in different seasons. I'm not informed of all their names. One of these days I should purchase a tree/shrub/flower book so I can learn their names and thus contribute more details for this blog.

Many years ago I purchased this Madonna statue and with the help of a friend, we lugged it home. It is super heavy! This is how Mother Mary looked when she was first purchased. Through the years I have moved her around on my property in search of the perfect location. For the last five years, Mother Mary has been happily residing under a shady mimosa tree surrounded by roses & crystals and many shell and kukui nut leis draped upon her.

This airplane replica hangs from the ceiling of Ruby's Diner Restaurant in Kahului and is much bigger in person than it appears in this photo after I've cropped it. Airplanes such as this one used to cross the Pacific to the Hawaiian Islands. I've seen the original photos....those were the days when Hawaii was truly an exotic, remote location.

The Christmas decorations have already arrived--even before the Thanksgiving Holiday. You will find this display at the entrance to the Kaahumanu Center in Kahului.

I recently posted about energy drinks on another of my blogs, The Art of Living and Dying. After writing this article, I decided to check out our local South Maui Safeway Grocery Store and see for myself HOW MANY different brands of energy drinks were for sale. I saw most of the energy drinks mentioned in my article and also the link I included, but I didn't see the drink called Cocaine. In any event, Maui must be buzzing like the rest of the world!

This famous humpback whale sculpture in Kalama Park in Kihei has been on the island longer than I have.

Digital cameras have their plus's and minus's. For capturing action shots, digitals are too slow...at least the digital cameras I use are! I must have lucked out with this shot. Of course, I didn't get all the motorcycle in the shot as I was grabbing this photo fast. This motorcyclist was way more covered up than we normally view on Maui.

These life-sized male sculptures on either side of the blond in the middle sit outside the Ulupalakula Ranch General Store. They make a great photo op for tourists who are dropped off for wine tasting from the tour buses across the street.

When I was a kid, I was a big tree-climber. I still like to climb, and yesterday I climbed on a roof to get this photo and felt like a kid again! The house photographed above is a two-story house, but since the shrubbery hides the lower level, you can't really get a sense of how high I am! In the distance you catch a glimpse of Kula.
