I don’t think that I’d like to live in a gated community. Is it common there? And is it *really* necessary?
There are some gated communities, but there's not as many as some other upscale locations in the U.S.
And I guess those who choose to live in gated communities feel safer. :-)
Personally I find Maui very safe and not terribly crime-ridden.
