Swimming at Red Sand Beach
This photo is from my vintage photo album, and it shows two swimmers at a remote beach in Hana called Red Sand Beach. To arrive at this remote (clothing optional) beach, one has to hike along a narrow and sometimes perilous trail, and that's the only way in and out.
Three of us got caught in a riptide once while swimming here, and we had to swim like hell--horizontal to the beach--to make it back to the beach. We were all exhausted and happy to be alive.

Keep the vintage photos coming!
Yes, keep the vintage clothing-optional photos coming. :-) I have never been to a clothing-option beach before but it is definitely one my to-do-list.
Glad to hear you survived the riptide. You guys did the right thing by swimming along the coast to get away from the underwater current.
Red Sand Beach probably not, but Kalama... might be interesting...
Have a great week!

Sounds like the perfect place to swim. I know how it feels, being caught in the tide. I once went diving, nice weather and all and returned with rough seas. No matter how hard I swam I never reached the beach so the best solution as you say was to swim horizontally. Thanks for your comment.
Looks like a perfect place for skinny dipping which I often do in Norway :-)
