October Theme--Tombstones and Graveyards

October's Monthly Theme is Tombstones/Cemeteries, and for this theme, I've chosen not one but TWO photos to illustrate this theme. I wanted to add the first photo because these signs aren't often seen at graveyards/cemeteries, and the sign speaks loud and clear about how respectful the Hawaiians are to their Ancestors!

Fun In The Maui Sun

It's so delightful to watch dogs having fun in the sun on Maui beaches. I captured many photos of this big black dog moving from place to place and digging holes all over the beach. There couldn't have been a happier dog in the world, and it made us happy just watching him!

Tiki Guardian

Do you know what tikis are? Here's some information about them:

"Most Polynesians believe that Tiki was the first man created. In Polynesian mythology, Tiki or hei tiki is a sculpture carved in the shape of a god, housing a spirit. The creation of tikis is known from all over Polynesia." You can read the rest at this website.

Another Maui Sunset

We sat at our table at twilight at Mulligan's On The Blue (an fun Irish restaurant in Wailea) and took lots of photos as the sunset was spectacular....again! Since my partner and I both love to EAT and dine out often, I could do a restaurant-review blog of Maui. However, I have enough blogs to keep up with as it is. :Smile: The blotch of light in the bottom corner is the light from a tiki torch.

Wave to Wave

Designer gates are big business on Maui, and they are imho beautiful art forms. Notice how the wave of the gate is replicated on the door of this beautiful home?

Entry of the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas

The last leg of our voyage was our stay at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas. These photos show the entrance to the ravishing resort/casino. The last photo shows the beautiful tiled floors in the entry.

I'm Back!

I haven't had much time to photograph Maui since my return a couple of days ago, so I'll show you some of the photos from my trip before returning to Maui photos. I hope this is ok!

This photo was taken at the Japanese Garden in Portland, Oregon, an amazing 5.5 acre formal garden featuring five garden styles: Tea Garden, Strolling Pond Garden, Natural Garden, Sand and Stone Gardens and Flat Garden. Needless to say I just went wild with two digital cameras because there was so much beauty!
